Effective October 5, 2026
BudgetGem is a budgeting app made by The Freedom Edit. This policy explains what information the app collects, why, and the choices you have. The short version: your budget is yours. We use your information only to run the app for you. We never sell it, and there are no ads or ad trackers in BudgetGem.
What we collect
- Account details. Your email address, and if you sign in with Google or Apple, the name and profile picture they share with us. Apple may give us a private relay email instead of your real one.
- Your budget. What you enter in the app: paychecks and pay schedule, bills, spending categories and purchases, savings and emergency fund amounts, debts and payments, impulse-check items, and notes.
- Vision board pictures. If you turn on the vision board, the pictures you choose from your photo library and the captions you add. BudgetGem only sees the pictures you pick.
- Basic technical information. Like most apps and websites, our service providers keep standard logs (such as IP address, device type and app version) to keep the service secure and working.
BudgetGem does not connect to your bank and does not ask for bank, card or account numbers.
How we use it
- To create your account and sign you in.
- To save your budget and vision board to your account so they stay in sync across your devices.
- To keep the app secure, fix problems and improve features.
- To reply when you contact us.
We do not sell your information, share it for advertising, or use it to build marketing profiles.
What stays on your device
Some settings stay on your device only and are never sent to us: the Face ID lock (Face ID itself is handled entirely by your device, and we never receive any face data), and bill and payday reminders, which are scheduled on your device.
Who helps us run BudgetGem
We use a small number of trusted service providers who process data on our behalf, only to provide the app:
- Supabase stores your account, budget and vision board pictures in the United States. Your data is protected so that only your signed-in account can read it, and pictures are kept in a private folder.
- Google and Apple handle sign-in if you choose to use them.
- Expo delivers app updates to your device.
- Apple distributes the app through the App Store and TestFlight.
Keeping your data safe
Your data is sent over encrypted connections, and access is restricted to your own account. No system is perfectly secure, but we work to protect your information and limit who can reach it.
Your choices
- See and change your data anytime in the app.
- Export a backup of your budget from Settings.
- Delete your account in Settings. This permanently deletes your account, your budget and your vision board pictures from our systems.
- Turn off the vision board, sounds, reminders or Face ID whenever you like.
You can also email us to ask for a copy of your data or to have it deleted. Depending on where you live, you may have additional privacy rights, and we will honor requests made under the laws that apply to you.
Children
BudgetGem is meant for adults and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13. If you believe a child has given us information, contact us and we will delete it.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we will update the date at the top and, for important changes, let you know in the app.
